London Hotel Guide
Best Luxury Hotels in Mayfair
Published 1 October 2026
Mayfair has been the address for London's grandest hotels since the nineteenth century, and it still has more of them per street than anywhere else in the city. Bond Street and Mount Street supply the shopping, Berkeley Square and Grosvenor Square the calm, and Park Lane runs along its western edge with Hyde Park beyond. These are the six we would choose. If you are planning around this part of town, our Mayfair and Marble Arch area pages are the natural next step.
Claridge's
Claridge's has stood on Brook Street for well over a century, and its Art Deco interiors remain among the most admired in London. Part of the Maybourne group, it is the archetypal Mayfair grand hotel: afternoon tea in the Foyer, Claridge's Bar for something stronger, and The Fumoir, a tiny, dimly lit Art Deco bar that is one of the most atmospheric places for a drink in the city. Bond Street is a few minutes' walk away. The hotel's roots go back to 1812, and it was named among The World's 50 Best Hotels in 2026. Dante Mayfair, the London home of the celebrated New York bar, is now a permanent fixture, and Claridge's Spa offers a quiet retreat after a day on Bond Street.

The Connaught
On Carlos Place, between Mount Street and Grosvenor Square, The Connaught is quieter and more discreet than Claridge's. Hélène Darroze at The Connaught holds three Michelin stars, and the Connaught Bar, with its famous martini trolley, has topped the World's 50 Best Bars list. The surrounding streets, Mount Street especially, are among the most refined in London. Downstairs, the Aman Spa has an indoor swimming pool, a rarity in Mayfair, and The Connaught Grill offers a less formal alternative to the three-star dining room. Personal butler service is available, and the hotel was also named among The World's 50 Best Hotels in 2026.

The Dorchester
On Park Lane since 1931, The Dorchester is the flagship of the Dorchester Collection and looks straight out over Hyde Park. Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester holds three Michelin stars, The Promenade is one of London's best-known places for afternoon tea, and The Grill offers British classics. It is old-school glamour on a grand scale, with the park on the doorstep. A four-year renovation, the largest in the hotel's history, was completed in 2026, and The Grill is now led by chef Tom Booton. Vesper Bar, the Artists' Bar and the Cantonese restaurant China Tang round out one of the most complete line-ups of places to eat and drink in any London hotel.

Brown's Hotel
Opened in 1837 and often described as London's oldest hotel, Brown's sits on Albemarle Street, a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly. It is part of Rocco Forte Hotels. Rudyard Kipling wrote parts of The Jungle Book here, and the hotel is said to have inspired Agatha Christie's At Bertram's Hotel. The English Tea Room and the Donovan Bar keep the traditions going, and the scale is intimate rather than grand. Alexander Graham Bell made Britain's first telephone call from the hotel, in the room that now carries his name. Charlie's is the hotel's restaurant, and the spa and 24-hour gym make it practical for longer stays as well as a weekend.

The Beaumont Mayfair
An independent hotel on Brown Hart Gardens, just off Oxford Street and moments from Selfridges, The Beaumont Mayfair recaptures the spirit of 1920s glamour with its Art Deco façade and interiors. A recent multi-million-pound renovation has kept that Jazz Age character while updating the rooms, and the hotel has its own spa. The Wallace Collection and the boutiques of Marylebone are a short walk away. Look up as you arrive: Antony Gormley's inhabitable sculpture ROOM juts out from the façade and is one of the most unusual places to sleep in London. Rosi serves modern British food, Le Magritte is the bar, and the spa includes a heated hammam.

45 Park Lane
The smaller, more contemporary sibling of The Dorchester next door, 45 Park Lane has every room looking out over Hyde Park. CUT by Wolfgang Puck, the hotel's steakhouse, is a destination in its own right, and the scale is intimate enough that service feels personal. There are only 45 rooms, designed by Thierry Despont and hung with contemporary art, including work by Damien Hirst and Sir Peter Blake. The Michelin-starred Sushi Kanesaka and a spa with what the hotel calls Park Lane's longest pool complete the picture.
