London Hotel Guide

Best Luxury Hotels in Marylebone

Published 28 September 2026

Marylebone is the calmer side of central London: a village of independent shops and restaurants around Marylebone High Street, with Regent's Park to the north and Oxford Street to the south. Its hotels are some of the most characterful in the city. This guide covers five of the best: The Langham, London's original grand hotel and home of the Artesian bar; The Landmark, a Victorian railway hotel built around a glass-roofed Winter Garden; The Marylebone on Welbeck Street; The Zetter Marylebone, an eccentric Georgian townhouse with a much-loved cocktail lounge; and The Prince Akatoki, a calm, Japanese-inspired retreat near Marble Arch. Chiltern Firehouse remains closed after its 2025 fire.

Marylebone sits between Regent's Park and Oxford Street, but it feels a world away from the West End crowds. Marylebone High Street and its side streets are lined with independent shops, cafés and some of the best neighbourhood restaurants in London, and the hotels here tend to have real personality. These are the five we would recommend. If you are planning around this part of town, our Marylebone, Baker Street and Marble Arch area pages are the natural next step.

The Langham

When it opened on Portland Place in 1865, The Langham was the largest and most modern hotel in London, and it still has a fair claim to have invented the idea of the grand hotel. Today it has 380 rooms and suites at the top of Regent Street. The Palm Court has served afternoon tea since the hotel opened, the Artesian is one of the city's most celebrated cocktail bars, and Wigmore, a modern British tavern from Michel Roux Jr, offers something more relaxed. Chuan Body + Soul adds a spa with a swimming pool, a genuine rarity in this part of town. The hotel bills itself as Europe's first grand hotel and was awarded two Michelin Keys in 2025. Sale e Pepe Mare, with its own terrace, adds Italian seafood to the mix, and the grand ballroom is one of the most impressive event spaces in the West End.

The Landmark London

Built in 1899 as the Great Central Hotel, opposite Marylebone station, The Landmark is one of London's great Victorian railway hotels. Its centrepiece is the Winter Garden, a soaring glass-roofed atrium with palm trees that works as restaurant, lounge and afternoon tea room all at once. Rooms are generously sized by London standards, and the hotel has an indoor pool and spa, which makes it a good choice for longer stays. Regent's Park and Baker Street are a short walk away. For drinks there is the Mirror Bar and a Champagne Bar with live piano, while the Great Central Pub offers something more casual. The spa adds a Finnish sauna, steam room and vitality pool to the swimming pool.

The Marylebone

On Welbeck Street, a few minutes from both Marylebone High Street and Bond Street, The Marylebone is the most rounded modern luxury hotel in the neighbourhood. Part of the Doyle Collection, it has smartly designed rooms and suites, a lively all-day restaurant and bar, and guests have free use of the Third Space health club next door, which has a 16-metre pool. It suits visitors who want the village feel of Marylebone with Mayfair and Oxford Street within walking distance. 108 Brasserie is the all-day restaurant and The Cocktail Bar handles the evenings. For something special, the rooftop terrace suites look out over the Marylebone rooftops.

The Zetter Marylebone

Set in a Georgian townhouse on Seymour Street, The Zetter Marylebone is the most eccentric hotel on this list, in the best possible way. The interiors are deliberately idiosyncratic, full of antiques, curiosities and bold colour, and the cocktail lounge feels like the drawing room of a wonderfully odd private house. Rooms are individually decorated and on the compact side, so it suits couples who prefer character to square footage. Marble Arch and Hyde Park are a few minutes' walk away. There are just 24 bedrooms and suites, the most memorable being Lear's Loft at the top of the house. Seymour's Parlour, the cocktail bar, is one of the most charming places for a nightcap in this part of London.

The Prince Akatoki

On Great Cumberland Place, at the western edge of Marylebone near Marble Arch, The Prince Akatoki brings a Japanese sensibility to central London. The design is calm and minimal, the service attentive without fuss, and the hotel has its own Japanese restaurant and bar. It is a quiet base for Hyde Park, Oxford Street and Mayfair, and a good alternative for anyone who finds the grander Victorian hotels a little too ornate. It has 82 rooms and suites. TOKii is the Japanese restaurant, and The Malt Lounge and Bar doubles as a whisky bar and tea lounge.

A note on Chiltern Firehouse

Marylebone's most famous boutique hotel, Chiltern Firehouse, has been closed since a fire in February 2025, and its owners have forecast a reopening in 2027. We will add it back to this guide once it reopens.
