Things To Do in Mayfair

Published 21 October 2026

Mayfair packs more Michelin stars, private members' clubs and luxury flagships into a few streets than anywhere else in London, and it comes alive after dark. This guide covers the best things to do in Mayfair for a grown-up evening: dinner at two-Michelin-star Gymkhana, Scott's or Sexy Fish; martinis at the Connaught Bar, one of the World's 50 Best Bars; late nights at Annabel's, 5 Hertford Street and The Arts Club; and the historic pubs of Shepherd Market. We also cover lingerie at Agent Provocateur and Rigby & Peller, and high-end shopping on Bond Street, Savile Row, Mount Street and the Burlington Arcade.
LG Things To Do in London

Mayfair is London at its most polished. Squeezed between Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Park Lane, it packs in more Michelin stars, private members' clubs and luxury flagships than any other part of the city, and it comes alive after dark in a way that few visitors expect from such an elegant postcode. This is our guide to the best things to do in Mayfair for a grown-up evening: where to eat, where to drink, where to dance and where to shop before you start. For where to stay, see our guide to the best luxury hotels in Mayfair.

Restaurants

Gymkhana on Albemarle Street holds two Michelin stars and is one of the best Indian restaurants in the world. The dark, clubby dining room is modelled on the elite gymkhana clubs of colonial India, complete with hunting trophies, and the cocktail lounge upstairs is a good place to start the evening. Scott's on Mount Street has been serving seafood since 1851; book a table for oysters and Champagne, or take the terrace in summer. For something livelier, Sexy Fish on Berkeley Square is pure theatre, with artworks by Damien Hirst and Frank Gehry, live coral reef tanks and what it claims is the world's largest collection of Japanese whisky. Nearby, Amazónico brings jungle-style interiors and live music, and Novikov on Berkeley Street splits into Italian and Asian dining rooms, with guest DJs in the lounge bar. Overlooking Green Park, Hide on Piccadilly holds a Michelin star and works with Hedonism Wines, so the wine list is extraordinary.

Bars

The Connaught Bar was named number eight in the World's 50 Best Bars in 2026 and has appeared on the list more often than any other bar. Order a martini and the trolley comes to you. Across the hotel, the Coburg Bar is quieter, with jewel-coloured velvet wingback chairs and rare whiskies, and it does not take reservations. On the St James's edge of Mayfair, the American Bar at The Stafford is one of London's longest-surviving American bars, its walls covered in signed photographs and memorabilia. For something less formal, head to Shepherd Market, Mayfair's hidden village of lanes, where Ye Grapes, licensed since 1742, is a proper London pub with a Thai restaurant upstairs.

Nightlife and members' clubs

Mayfair's best nights out happen behind closed doors. Annabel's on Berkeley Square is the most famous private members' club in London, with dining rooms, a garden and a nightclub that still sets the tone for the city; entry is for members and their guests only, and the dress code is smart. Robin Birley's 5 Hertford Street hides Loulou's nightclub beneath its dining rooms, with a strict no-phones, no-photographs rule and jackets required. His dining club Oswald's on Albemarle Street is known for its wine list, while Mark's Club on Charles Street has been a discreet English dining club since 1972. The Arts Club on Dover Street has Kyubi for Japanese food and Leo's, a late-night bar with live music and dancing, and Maison Estelle on Grafton Street, opened in 2022 in a Grade I listed townhouse, has its own nightclub and roof terrace. If you are not a member, Sexy Fish, Amazónico and Novikov stay open until 1am most nights and draw the same late, glamorous crowd.

Lingerie

Two of the best lingerie boutiques in London are a few streets apart. Agent Provocateur on Grosvenor Street carries the label that changed British lingerie when it launched in 1994, and Rigby & Peller on Conduit Street, a British lingerie house for more than 80 years, is known for its expert fittings. Either makes a memorable gift.

High-end shopping

Bond Street runs for half a mile from Piccadilly to Oxford Street and is lined with the London flagships of the great fashion and jewellery houses, Cartier among them, with Sotheby's auction house at numbers 34–35. Off Piccadilly, the Burlington Arcade, opened in 1819, is a Regency arcade of watchmakers, jewellers and perfumers. Savile Row is the home of bespoke tailoring: Henry Poole & Co has cut suits here since 1806 and Huntsman since 1849. And Mount Street, with its pink terracotta Queen Anne frontages, is the most elegant shopping street in Mayfair, home to Creed and a growing list of designer boutiques.
